Name the GOOD things and NICE things about Jehovah's Witnesses
by stuckinarut2 inok, so in the interests of balance....(as it has rightly been pointed out that i am getting more bitter toward the org), can we think of any positive or nice things about jehovah's witnesses?.

Separation of Powers
Personally, I liked the chicken sandwiches, the danishes, and the pudding....didn't care much for the hoagies or the fruit bags...the Shasta cola which morphed to Sunnyside or Cragmont..never measured up to the real "soda" The Circuit Assemblies used to have real breakfast made by real people...that was nice too. Other than that.....can't think of much. Have always been in wierd congregations filled with self-important climbers and socially inept people too worried about what others thought.

Service meeting week of November 3rd! How to indoctrinate children
by stuckinarut2 inoh yep...here we go..... this weeks service meeting has a part designed to show how children should be indoctrinated and manipulated into going "out in service".
the part first asks for the disturbingly corny cartoon clip to be played on the big screen at the halls: "lets go out in service!".
(if you haven't watched it yet, please go to jw.org and watch it....you simply won't beleive it until you see it!).

How do you indoctrinate a good JW kid? The article should have stated what worked for people of my generation.....
A belt....
A hot wheel track...
A switch....
Guilt....
Comparison.....
Fear....
Isolation....
and my personal favorite..."Get out of MY house!"

PROOF that the Watchtower is the TRUTH...Sunday's WT fallacy
by Separation of Powers ini thought the undenable proof was pretty evident in the watchtower study this past weekend.
no war, preaching work, disfellowshipping....yeah, that's pretty convincing evidence.. .
no war?

Separation of Powers
I thought the UNDENABLE proof was pretty evident in the Watchtower study this past weekend. No war, preaching work, disfellowshipping....yeah, that's pretty convincing evidence.
No war? Research a little about JF Rutherford before you talk about true neutrality. Then research every other religious organization or secular grou p that condemn war BEFORE you use that line of reasoning. Pacifism is not unique to JWs. Oh, yes, they may be bigger than other religions, but definitely NOT the only one that condemns war.
Preaching work? When you indoctrinate people to believe that works are more important than anything else and you tell them that among these works is the ALL IMPORTANT preaching work then, of course, your group is going to preach. When your preaching, however, becomes nothing more than handing out literature and your printing presses continually produce "new and improved" light, then your preaching is tantamount to door-to-door salesmanship. When the majority of your billion plus hours are spent in fruitless endeavours, then it is far from preaching with a purpose and everyone knows, preaching without a purpose is "striking the air."
Disfellowshipping? When you can state with a straight face that an indication of being the true religion is because you excommunicate tens of thousands of members annually, and address judicially tens if not hundreds of thousands more, I think it would be best to ask why so many witnesses cross the lines of morality in the first place. When fear of disfellowshipping is the chief deterrent than maybe more time should be spent on instilling virtue over works.
Sorry, but you fall short with this article on SOOO many levels.

Even if the WTS wins its appeals, it loses
by sir82 inthe thought occurs to me that even if the wts wins its appeals, it loses.. suppose that conti, lopez, the other 8 cases tied to campos, and even dozens more cases to come are overturned on appeal.. (1) the wts will have built a reputation of secrecy & mishandling.
a lone crackpot or 2 might file a case against a big corporation in hopes of getting something out of a settlement, but if there are dozens & dozens of litigants, most of whom prefer to go to court to air the "dirty laundry" instead of seeking a settlement, what does that say?.
(2) it's not exactly an appealing message for the wts to say "ha ha!

Separation of Powers
There is a law of averages. The more that fight against the positions of the WT regarding their CA policies, the more chance that someone will win and win BIG. Conti's case is taking longer than I expected. However, with regard to the legalities involved...THAT is a good thing. If she wins, the floodgates will open and the damage will be insufferable...

My Muslim friend's and the Koran.
by new hope and happiness inin another thread i raised the point " there are moderate muslims but their is no moderate islam".
now i must face the fact i have muslim friends who say they believe the koran.. well i have asked these muslim friends, if they have investigated the origins of the koran.
they have answerd " yes".

Separation of Powers
As difficult a read as it is for the non-muslim, I have read the koran. I got it from an information table at the mall, Yes it was quite surreal as I thought it was a JW table at first. I was intrigued by all the similarities between it and the Old Testament. In many respects, they follow parallel paths up until Ishmael as far as lineage go. It is replete with directives against the infidel, but so is the Old Testament.
As may of the Jewish faith do not subscribe to the tenets of ancient Judaism, so, the moderate Muslim may not subscribe to the actual interpretation of the Koran. There is a defined conflict between the moderate and the radical. Those with whom I have spoken are similar to JW's in a certain respect, namely, that they find it difficult to speak against the radical side due to fear of reprisals. Sounds quite similar to many on this forum.

Separation of Powers
If he can order the extermination of entire races of people and justify the bloodlust of HIS people, he can take out one Prophet who claimed to be his son, don't you think?
